“A healthy social life is found when
in the mirror of each human soul the whole community finds its reflection,
and when in the community the virtue of each one is living.”
- Rudolf Steiner
Volunteer
Wishing Well School invites our community to participate in supporting our school through volunteerism. Whether you build picnic benches or chaperone field trips, guest lecture or bake, your efforts help build a strong sense of community and keep our school thriving.
In the Classroom
We value parent involvement and support of the Class Teacher. We know that many hands make light work; and, coming together with other parents to support special projects strengthens the classroom culture. Parents can help in many ways, such as: chaperoning field trips, volunteering for special class events, and working on a craft or sewing project. Additionally, parents in each class volunteer for these roles:
Class Parent
The Class Parent works closely with the class teacher. They help coordinate volunteers for field trips, events, festivals, support the teacher in various needs and tasks of the class, help organize classroom activities and projects, and, most importantly, support the families by cultivating positive classroom culture, communication, and relationships. There may be opportunities to collaborate with other Class Parents on section wide or school wide events.
Parent Association Representative
Each class chooses a representative to attend Parent Association meetings. The PA representative provides a point of connection between the classroom the Parent Association, helping to weave together the fabric of the whole. This role is a thread of communication, understanding, and shared goals between each class the activities of the Parent Association. It is one of the ways we ensure that there is consistency, connection, and community between and across the classrooms and our campus.
Parent Association
The parents who serve on Parent Association work together with the threefold mission to:
Enliven all aspects of community life (family get-togethers, beach bonfires, off-campus activities, meal trains, life events);
Support the faculty and staff (meals & seasonal gifting);
Support the fundraising efforts of the school (Spring Gala & Auction; Give-back business partnerships; other events).
The Parent Association is open to the entire parent and caregiver community. Additionally, a Parent Association Representative from each class is asked to attend each Parent Association meeting. The work of and participation in the group is determined by the group of individuals that attend the meetings and embody the impulse of the families at the school at that time. The Parent Association is supported and led by two co-chairs. Email here to contact the PA Co-chairs.
Meetings are always open to all parents/caregivers.
Community Beach Bonfire
To kick off the school year, the Parents Association hosts a community beach bonfire. This has become a wonderful tradition to come together as a community, reconnect our energy at the start of the year, and welcome our new families. This past year, we were blessed with a double rainbow and a light sprinkle. Families played in the ocean and in the sand, food was shared and lasting bonds created.
Game Night
Hosted by the Parent Association, this night of socializing with grown-ups is pure gold. We’ll spend our evening in cozy cohorts of good people, rotating through a set of hosted game rooms. Accompanied by dinner, beer & wine, excellent company, laughing, maybe some dancing – everyone is winning, no matter how the games go.
Clothing Swap / "Revived Goods"
Hosted by the Parent Association, bring your pre-sorted & labeled gently warn, unwanted fashion items and leave with a new-to-you wardrobe! A fun event for the whole family.
SPRING GALA
This memorable event is a fabulous triple-whammy:
1) a great party night with our superstar community;
2) a thrilling dose of anticipation with our stellar auction;
3) our biggest fundraiser of our several annual events.
An evening ball for the adults in our community, the Spring Gala & Auction brings together a night of entertainment, fine nourishment and dazzling refreshments, top notch company, and superb auction items. Our entire parent-body is asked to participate by: 1) contributing and procuring auction items AND 2) to prioritize attending for the benefit of all. Attending the Gala brings a spirit of connection, collaboration, and shared commitment to our beautiful, one-in-a-million community. A small committee of parents helps produce this lovely evening, with volunteer support.
SUMMER FEST
