Sept. 27, 2009

Dear Parents,

Hope you all had a good weekend.  Rob was at a reunion this weekend at Shaver Lake, so Emory, Pearl and I got to have some quality time together.  My sister lives in Templeton and has a pond, so we were swimming and catching frogs this weekend.

This next week we will be having a special visitor  on Tuesday.  She is a colleague and mentor of mine.  She’ll be observing me as well as doing a puppet show for us.  Her name is Thea Bodger and she and her daughter Claire will be performing a seasonal tale.

I have a bit of exciting news.  Karen Wikler, Kai’s mom, and I have been looking into the possibility of having a kindergarten program in place for next fall.  We are still investigating options and one of them is to work with an existing charter school.  We met last week with the Family Partnership Charter School in SLO to speak about the possibility of us running a Waldorf style kindergarten under their charter.  There is still much to ponder but the exciting part is that Karen has gotten the ball rolling for us.  I will keep you posted as to when we will have a meeting about this and more to share.   For now, let’s just keep good thoughts about growing our program and talk to me and others about this new endeavour.

October is rapidly approaching and I wanted to get our next family day on the calendar.  Friday Oct. 16th we will be going to La Familia pumpkin patch, (off of Los Osos Valley Rd. about 1/2 mile past Turri Rd.) at 11am.  Meet us there and bring a lunch for some pumpkin time!

A few other details, about signing in/out, the mornings and water.  Thank you for signing your child in and out everyday.  I will tally the late days and add them to Oct.’s tuition, if this applies to you.  And thank you for bringing your child to the back yard each day.  I’m finding that starting our days outside brings a balance that was lacking.  Also, please pack lunch-time water for your child.  It eases our lunchtime when your child has everything he/she needs.
Ciao for now!  Happy Autumn!
