Dear Parents,

Summer camp has been humming along. We’ve been busy cooking and now making all sorts of creations from flying owls to bark boats. Aubree Charlesworth has been a wonderful addition to our summertime fun. She has been a huge help and the kids love her. She does babysit. Ask her or me for her number if you’re interested. An exciting event has taken place here at Wishing Well, our chickens laid their first eggs! Hooray!!! The kids are very excited to go and check each morning. It has been lots of fun.

This is a link to a thought provoking article on the issue of toys and nurturing imagination. I like it because she goes down the road of actually purchasing that ‘drum set’ for her three year old only to discover he would rather play with the one he has contructed himself – of course. On a broad level she touches on how our consumer culture deflates imagination, leaving a void in our spirit. Check it out – very inspiring!

Just a reminder, we will not be in session next week, Aug. 3rd -6th. Summer camp resumes Aug. 10th – 27th, “Water Play”. Hope you are all having an adventuresome summer, even if you are staying home. Remember, (one of my favorite bumper stickers) “I live where you vacation.”

Cheers,
Kim

p.s. Maya Lily has a new baby brother!!! Born July 23rd, 8lbs 14oz. Way to go mama Julie! Congratulations to Jesse, Julie and Maya!
